Brands & legal teams

Web3 brand protection starts where your watch ends.

For general counsel, IP and brand protection teams. Your monitoring covers registrars, marketplaces and social platforms. Onchain registries are a separate world, and a TLD matching your trademark may already sit in a wallet nobody on your team has seen.

Trademark protection for onchain domains has a blind spot

Outside the DNS

Onchain TLDs are recorded on registries such as Freename and resolve through their own layer. Tools built on DNS data never see them.

No lapse to wait for

A TLD held as a token has no renewal date. It will not drop back into the pool if you ignore it.

Everything beneath it

Only the holder issues names under a TLD. Support, payment and agent names under your brand are theirs to create. See what is live

The board asks about dotBrand. Ask about onchain too.

ICANN's 2026 window closed on August 12, 2026, with 1,616 applications going forward, and Reveal Day puts every applied-for string on a public list. If your organization applied, the DNS side is moving. The onchain version of your name is a separate record with a separate holder.

Three moves, at your counsel's pace

1

Find out

Send your group, brand and product names through the Trademark Name Check. It is free and confidential. If one of them is for sale through us, you hear that before anything else.

2

Decide

A short options memo for counsel: watch, acquire or leave it. The legal assessment stays with your team. We supply the record and the practical consequences.

3

Act without noise

Recovery runs anonymously, with your organization unnamed until you choose. Settlement goes through marketplace escrow, never on trust. See brand namespace recovery and namespace watch.

Counsel asks

Does our trademark give us rights over an onchain TLD?

That is a question for your counsel, and the answer can depend on jurisdiction and facts. We stay factual: what exists, who holds it on the registry, what is issued under it, and what a quiet acquisition would involve.

Who sees the names we send?

The partner handling your check, under confidentiality. Your names are never published and never shared with a holder without your instruction.

Can one check cover subsidiaries and product lines?

Yes. Send the full list. Matching TLDs are often concentrated with a few holders, so several names can sometimes be resolved in one conversation.

Does the ICANN Reveal Day set a deadline?

No. There is no deadline we can honestly give you. What Reveal Day changes is attention: more organizations look at TLDs once the list is public, and quiet options tend to narrow as attention grows.

Tell us what you hold. Quietly.

One named partner reads every request. Holders start with a private valuation. Organizations start with a confidential brief.
